TUESDAY, JULY 10, 2001 Robert Mueller, President Bush's pick to head the FBI, is making the rounds among Senators who will decide whether or not to confirm him. On Monday, Mueller met with Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), a frequent critic of the FBI. Grassley said he hasn't made up his mind yet but said Mueller was a "very forthcoming individual," as quoted by the Associated Press. Today, Mueller will meet with Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Chairman of the Judiciary Committee. The committee will oversee his confirmation hearing when it is scheduled. Mueller was nominated last Friday for the position vacated by former Director Louis J. Freeh. Get the Story:
