JULY 17, 2000

The BIA has rescheduled its meeting with Connecticut state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and leaders of the towns of Preston, Ledyard, and North Stonington.

Originally set for July 28, the meeting was first expanded to two days--July 27 and July 28. Now, the two-day soiree has been pushed back to August 8 and August 9.

The meeting is a formal one requested by AG Blumenthal. The towns will discuss with the BIA the reasons for extending preliminary federal recognition to the Eastern Pequot and Paucatuck Eastern Pequot tribes, who will also attend.
