Pequot Tribe foes to meet

FRIDAY, AUGUST 10, 2001 The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and three Connecticut towns will meet August 20 to discuss their differences over trust land. The meeting is the third between the tribe and Ledyard, North Stonington and Preston. The meetings are being arranged by freshman Congressman Rob Simmons (R-Conn.) The towns have opposed attempts by the tribe to seek trust lands. The tribe is willing to limit land-into-trust applications to 880 acres for the next 35 years. Get the Story:
