Pequot Tribe towns to meet

THURSDAY, AUGUST 16, 2001 The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the three Connecticut towns will meet next Monday to continue discussing their differences over trust land. The meeting is the third between the groups. The sessions have been arranged and facilitated by freshman Congressman Rob Simmons (R-Conn.). The towns have opposed any land-into-trust applications filed by the tribe. The tribe is willing to compromise, offering to limit its applications to 880 acres for the next 35 years. Get the Story:
