Study contradicts police claims

A Seattle Times analysis of crime statistics contradicts assertions by police that they have reduced their presence in an area of the city due to claims of racial profiling.

Police in various cities often say they pull back on activities when accused of profiling. But the Seattle paper found that police stops have increased and crime has dropped since the May 31 shooting of an African-American man by an officer.
