Firing of tribal employee upheld

FRIDAY, AUGUST 24, 2001 The Red Cliff Ojibwe tribal council voted on Tuesday to uphold the firing of an employee who still holds office in the Wisconsin tribe. Donald Gurnoe had been fired in 1998 as tribal manager after being linked to a payroll scheme. Two former employees are serving time for the $1 million fraud. Gurnoe has since been hired as a tribal planner and an associate tribal judge. Get the Story:
