Pequot comment period extended

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has extended by six months the public comment period on the recognition petitions of the Eastern Pequot and Paucatuck Eastern Pequot tribes of Connecticut.

The comment period on the tribes, who received prelminary recognition in March, was set to end September 27. The extension, which was sought after by state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and three towns, will extend the period until March 26.
