Crow tribal council plans to meet

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2001

The council of the Crow Tribe of Montana plans to meet next month even though a new constitution approved by voters has written the group out of existence.

But a number of tribal members, including ousted Secretary Titon Old Bull and officials from the executive committee, aren't recognizing the new constitution. Until it is approved by the Department of Interior, they will keep the tribal council alive.

The new administration, however, says the constitution does not have to be approved.

The meeting is scheduled for October 12.
