The Bureau of Land Managment, an agency of the Department of Interior, has released a final environmental impact statement on a land transfer deal with San Felipe Pueblo.

Under the traasfer, the Pueblo would buy 269 acres of land in northern New Mexico. This parcel would be taken into BLM control.

In exchange, the tribe would get 9,460 acres of federally-owned land near its reservation in central New Mexico. This land would be taken into trust for the tribe.

The value of the two parcels of land is $1.89 million.

The land the Pueblo would receive is culturally significant to tribal members.
