Navajo crime rate said growing

The statistics are still being finalized but violent crime rates on the Navajo Nation are growing, according to The Farmington Daily-Times.

The paper points to statistics coming from the Navajo tribal police, which reports an increase in police calls in 2001 from the year prior. According to these numbers, aggravated assault is the most comment crime report, followed by larceny and then burglary.

Sexual offenses, vandalism, and violation of liquor laws round out the list. Homicide numbers are still being coordinated.
