Family wins $3.1 million against BIA

A federal judge has ordered the Bureau of Indian Affairs to pay $3.1 million for the death of a man who died on the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana.

Leland Kicking Woman went to a logging site operated by the BIA in 1993 to look for a job. He was struck by a falling tree as he tried to prevent another from being injured.

Kicking Woman was paralyzed and died from heart failure in 1994.
