Hopi court dismisses charges

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6, 2002 A Hopi tribal court judge has dismissed trespassing charges brought against five Navajo women. Hopi Chief Judge Gary LaRance said the tribe failed to prove the women broke trespass law. The woman, who have refused to accept the jurisdiction of the tribe, were cited in connection with a Sioux Sun Dance ceremony on Hopi-owned property. Get the Story:
