MONDAY, APRIL 8, 2002 As part of a greater effort to protect 4,000-mile U.S. border with Canada, the Department of Justice is reaching out to tribes. The St. Regis / Akwesasne Mohawk Reservation spans the border in New York. Tribes in the Northeast, the Pacific Northwest and the Rocky Mountains also have ties to Canada. The Canadian border is not as highly protected as the Mexican one. New equipment and more human patrols are being added. Get the Story:
