Group claims religious use of tea

A religious group based in New Mexico is comparing itself to the Native American Church in seeking an exemption for use of a hallucinogenic tea.

A federal judge earlier this year denied attempts by the O Centro Espirita Beneficiente Uniao do Vegetal, which has roots in Brazil, to skirt the law. But the ruling left open consideration on other issues.
