FRIDAY, MAY 3, 2002

The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma set fire to 30 acres of tribal land in order to test its emergency response system.

The tribe's emergency manager said the way tribal agencies communicated went well. Some improvements are planned.

The exercise was made possible through a $100,000 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Administration.
