NOVEMBER 14, 2000

Catskill Development on Monday filed suit against Park Place Entertainment after secret talks between the two casino companies broke down.

Park Place had been negotiating to buy out Catskill's interest in building a casino for the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of New York. But apparently, the talks broke down and then Arthur Goldberg, CEO of Park Plcae, suddenly died.

Catskill had won approval from the Department of Interior to build an off-reservation casino for the tribe. But the tribe suddenly switched partners, prompting many questions on the deal, particularly Park Place's committment to it.
