NOVEMBER 2, 2000

Jackson T. King, the lead lawyer for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, has given in to a request by the state of Connecticut that he apply for a gaming license.

King said he didn't have to apply for a license because he was considered by the tribe to be a tribal official. Tribal officials don't have to obtain licenses from the state.

King has now agreed to apply for a license. But it won't be the type that requires full financial disclosure.
