State lottery advances in Oklahoma

FEBRUARY 20, 2001

The Oklahoma Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Education on Monday advanced a proposal that would create a state lottery to help finance schools.

The move could open up Class III gaming to tribes in the state. The proposal will now be considered by the Senate Appropriations Committee but Sen. Brad Henry, its sponsor, says it might fail there.
