MARCH 27, 2001 The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut wants to build a golf course on a 1,100-acre property it has been trying to take into trust for several years. A lawyer representing a development firm behind the project on Monday said the tribe wants to build two 18-hole golf courses on the Lake Isles property. The tribe asked the Department of Interior to take the land into trust in 1993 but three towns and the state have been challenging any fee-into-trust applications. A lawyer for the tribe said the tribe might seek to take the property into trust in the future, but has not decided on the issue. Get the Story:
