Tribe to discuss casino proposal

MARCH 30, 2001 The Eastern Pequot Tribe next month will make a presention on its proposal to open a casino at the Adm. Harold E. Shear State Pier in New London, Connecticut. The tribe is offering the community $3 million a year if residents support the plan. The tribe would first need to gain final federal recognition and negotiate a Class III gaming compact with the state before a casino could be built. The presentation will take place April 9 at New London High School. The public will be able to make comments on it. Get the Story:
