Pueblo's development plans put on hold

MARCH 9, 2001 Pojoaque Pueblo's plan to reopen a horse track near Santa Fe, New Mexico, were put on hold on Thursday after local residents raised concerns about the proposal. The tribe bought the Santa Fe Downs in 1996 but closed it a year later due to money problems. With slot machines legalized at horse tracks, the tribe is hoping to reopen the property. But local residents said water rights and traffic issues need to be addressed. As a result, the La Cienega and La Cieneguilla County Development Review Committee tabled the tribe's proposal until April 12.
