Tribe settles gaming contract dispute

MAY 22, 2001 The Narragansett Tribe has settled a contract dispute with its former gaming partner but will only pay Capital Gaming International $10 million if the tribe succeeds in opening a casino in Rhode Island. And only if its profitable enough to make the $119,000 monthly settlement payments. The tribe for years has tried to open a casino in the state. It has to get voter approval for such a project and voters in various communities have turned it down. Get the Story:
