MAY 31, 2000 The Lac du Flambeau Ojibwe may get a second chance to hear their casino proposal heard thanks to residents of Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin. 1,089 residents signed a petition calling for the village board to hold a referendum on the project, which would bring a proposed $92.5 million in payments to the village and Brown County over the next 20 years. The casino had been earlier turned down by the board due to some objections in the community. The board had endorsed the plan up until then. Get the Story:
