Holocaust victims given tax exemption

MAY 31, 2001 The $1.35 trillion dollar tax cut passed by Congress last week contains a provision to exempt Holocaust victims and their descendants from paying federal taxes on compensation packages being awarded throughout the world. The provision was sponsored by Senator Peter Fitzgerald (R-Ill.). There are an estimated 80,000 Americans who could beneift from the provision when they take their share of over $5 billion in Holocaust settlement funds. Get the Story:
