MAY 4, 2001 Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colo.) will finally fulfill one of his long-term wishes today as he strikes the mint on first of more than 500,000 new commemorative silver dollars. The coin is a reproduction of the historic buffalo nickel. It features an Indian on one side (not modeled after Campbell) and a buffalo on the other. Campbell first proposed the coin six years ago.
