MAY 7, 2001

Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colo.) on Friday said he had to jump through hoops to make his dream of reviving the historic buffalo coin come true.

In Denver, he struck the mint on the coin, this time in the form of a commemorative silver dollar. It will go on sale June 7 and it will help raise funds for the new National Museum of the American Indian, expected to open in Washington, DC, in 2004.
