JUNE 8, 2001

The trial of a man who claims he was unfairly terminated by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut continued on Thursday in tribal court.

Walter Leo Fletcher said he was terminated due to false charges of sexual harrassment. These charges, he said, came about only after it became known he was writing an unflattering book about the tribe.

Fletcher claims he lost $626,661 in wages, both from his job and karate classes he taught.

Fletcher is not a tribal member but was married to one.
