Wampanoag Tribe working on casino

TUESDAY, JULY 31, 2001 Having tried, and failed, to open a casino in Massachusetts for several years, the Gay Head Wampanoag Tribe is still working on a deal to bring gaming to the Bay State. On its new efforts, the tribe is said to be working with the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Lousiana. The tribe is an investor in the new casino opened by Santa Clara Pueblo of New Mexico. The Wampanoag Tribe was federally recognized in 1987, the only Massachusetts tribe with the status. Get the Story:
