Report: Nipmuc Nation to announce casino

MONDAY, JULY 9, 2001

The Nipmuc Nation of Massachusetts and Lakes Gaming Inc. today will announce they have become gaming partners, according to the Norwich Bulletin.

The paper has obtained a press release dated July 9 which announced the partnership. Tribal officials would not comment.

The tribe received preliminary federal recognition in January but the decision is on hold pending review by Neal McCaleb, the recently confirmed Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs.
