Mesa Verde sought for Colo. quarter

TUESDAY, AUGUST 7, 2001 Colorado State Rep. Mark Larson is pushing for an image of Mesa Verde National Monument to be placed on the back of Colorado's commemorative quarter. The quarter will be minted in 2006. All states have their own quarter, phased in at various times between 1999 and 2008. Mesa Verde was occupied by ancestors of today's Pueblo Indians from about A.D. 600 to 1300. Get the Story:
