A settlement between a Shakopee Mdewakanton casino executive and a women who accused him of sexual, physical, and mental abuse may end the controversy over the affair between the two and the tribe's finances.

Jill Gavle was an employee of the tribe's casino in Minnesota, where Leonard Prescott was an executive. She attempted to sue the tribe's corporation but was stopped short because a state Supreme Court said sovereign immunity prevented the lawsuit.

The tribe's corporation earlier rejected a $750,000 settlement to Gavle. The two have a child together.

The controversy raised the issue of exactly how much tribal members receive in per capital payments from the successful casino. Tribal members reportedly receive upwards of $72,000 a month.
