The Tigua Tribe of Texas won't have to shut down its casino on Friday as previously ordered, thanks to intervention by a higher power.

A federal judge had ordered the Speaking Rock Casino near El Paso to be shut down by November 30. But the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday granted the tribe a stay and set a court date of January 9 to hear the matter.

Local oficials residents have rallied behind the casino, saying it helps the economy.
