Town urged to take advantage of casino

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2001 An economic development consultant has told the Connecticut town of North Stonington to capitalize on the casino owned by its neighbor and occasional foe, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. John Shapiro said the town can update its 10-year development plan by considering how best to take advantage of the situation. He also said the town doesn't have to sacrifice its rural character just because of the casino. Town leaders often criticize of the crime, traffic and expansion the tribe and its development has brought to the region. Get the Story:
