Minnesota's Chief Deputy Attorney General Alan Gilbert is accusing state gaming regulators of favoring tribes who are opposing making casino audits public.

Gilbert has told a state judge that the Department of Public Safety is biased in favor of the tribes. He has cited various e-mails describing what he calls a conflict in interest.

The attorney general's office wants the audits made public. But several tribes are opposing the decision and a lawsuit has been filed to prevent them from being disclosed.

The Department of Public Safety has sided with the tribes because officials believe making the audits public could hurt the reporting process.
