FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2002

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut will be allowed to continue using a temporary parking lot for its museum.

Local regulators made changes to zoning laws to keep the parking lot open. It was stressed, however, that the lot was a special exception.

The property involved is owned by the tribe but sits within the limits of the town of Ledyard. The town was considering asking the tribe to tear up the parking lot, as had been previously understood.
