WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10, 2002

A federal judge on Tuesday warned ex-Arthur Andersen partner David Duncan he could face prison time for pleading guilty to obstruction of justice related to the destruction of documents for Enron.

Duncan could be sentenced up to 10 years for the charge. The U.S. Attorney's office in Houston, Texas, said it will not recommend a specific sentence, if any, but would urge leniency.

Duncan will help the government in its case against Andersen, which has also been indicted on obstruction of justice charges. The firm is laying off 7,000 employees.
