Indian vote hailed

NOVEMBER 16, 2000

Getting out the Indian vote this election year has been attributed to helping elect and defeat candidates all over the country.

In Oklahoma, Montana, and potentially, Washington, the effort to get Indians to vote and to make sure Indian issues are considered by candidates has been seen as a success.

Even in Utah and Arizona, where voters approved English-only and an end to bilingual education, Indian voters banded together and turned those proposals down.
