Clinton / Gore blamed for fires

NOVEMBER 2, 2000 Fliers being distributed in New Mexico blame the Clinton / Gore administration for fires which blazed through the West over the summer. But the Small Business Survival Committee, a group from Washington, doesn't appear to have its facts entirely correct, according to The Albuquerque Journal. They incorrectly identify the location of the Cerro Grande fire, which burned near Los Alamos National Laboratory, causing the evacuation of nearby towns and which burned land belonging to Santa Clara Pueblo and San Ildefonso Pueblo. Republican and Democratic leaders in the state are calling the fliers inaccurate. Get the Story:
