With Al Gore and George W. Bush neck and neck in the polls, both Presidential candidates are winding up the final day of campaigning with whirlwind tours back to their home states.

Vice President Gore is on a 30-hour non-stop trek through Iowa, Missouri, and Michigan today. Its his last attempt to solidify his standing in the Midwest before ending up in his home state of Tennessee.

With its 18 electoral votes, a in Michigan for Gore tomorrow would help him clear the way to the Presidency. A Detroit News poll puts support for Gore at 46 percent to Bush's 41, with a margin of error is 4 percentage points.

The Midwest is also being hit by Texas Governor Bush embarks on his own 3000-mile journey. In addition to Arkansas, he'll also visit Tennessee and Iowa before returning home to Texas.

Unlike Gore, Bush is guaranteed a win in his home state. Bush leads Gore in Tennessee, but the Gore campaign can claim a lead in Florida, where Bush's brother, Jeb Bush, is Governor.

Meanwhile, third party hopeful Ralph Nader is pushing forward with his own attempt to gain federal recognition for the Green Party. Nader held his final "super rally" in the nation's capitol last night, urging Americans to vote with their conscience and not to worry about taking votes away from Gore.

"A vote for your hopes, a vote for your dreams, a vote for a higher expectation level of what our country can become and what it means to the world -- those are the votes that you need to register, not the lesser of two evils where at the end of the day, you're still left with evil," Nader told about 10,000 supporters who paid $10 to enter the rally.

Nader and running mate Winona LaDuke need 5 percent of the national vote to elevate the Greens to recognized status -- a designation which will bring federal funds to the party. In order to help Nader achieve his goal, vote-matching web sites throughout the country are urging Nader supporters to "trade" their votes with Gore supporters in states where Gore is guaranteed a win.

But several states have moved to stop the sites. California authorities shut down one site and Oregon authorities called for another to close down.
