JANUARY 8, 2001

Representative Heather Wilson (R-N.Mex) was given a special waiver to sit on the House Armed Services Committee, her office announced on Monday.

Wilson is already a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee and had to get the waiver because its members aren't generally allowed to sit on a second committee.

Wilson successfully defeated former New Mexico Attorney General John Kelly for re-election in November. Kelly had been endorsed by several tribes.
