FEBRUARY 15, 2001

Former President Bill Clinton didn't grant clemency to Leonard Peltier but his pardon of fugitive financier Marc Rich is still causing him trouble.

Peltier himself has noted that campaign contributions appear to have played a part in Clinton's pardons and commutations. Now, a the US Attorney for New York has launched a criminal probe to determine if Rich basicallly bought his pardon.

Rich's ex-wife has donated at least $1 million to the Democratic Party, $450,000 to the Clinton's library fund, $70,000 to a Hillary Clinton's Senate campaign fund, $10,000 to the Clintont's defense fund and $7,375 worth of furniture to the Clintons.
