California Census count criticized

MARCH 26, 2001

Tribal leaders and advocates are criticizing the results of the Census 2000 even before official figures are released this week because the Census Bureau won't release data for small reservations, many of which are located in the state, won't be released until 2003.

Reservations with populations larger than 7,000 will get socio-economic data and other detailed statistics first. Smaller ones will have to wait until the later date.
