APRIL 24, 2001 Less than half of Americans surveyed for a Washington Post / ABC News poll think President George W. Bush is doing a good job on the environment. Some 47 percent of respondents gave Bush favorable marks on the environment. The administration has arguable faced the most criticism on the issue, from withdrawal of a global warming treaty to a delay of arsenic in water standards. About 55 percent also said they were opposed to drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) in Alaska, while 41 percent approved. Overall, Bush has an approval rating of 63 percent.
