APRIL 24, 2001 The Navajo Nation is one of several tribes who have formed a new coalition aimed at increasing its voice in Washington, DC. The Council of Large Land-Based Tribes is made up of tribes of more than 100,000 acres. The tribes say their voices aren't heard when it comes to federal funding so they plan on lobbying Congress next month to make their issues known. Members include the Wind River Reservation Tribes of Wyoming, the Fort Peck Tribes of Montana, the Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana, the Crow Tribe of Montana, and the Kootenai and Salish Tribes on Montana's Flathead Reservation.
