MAY 29, 2001 Making good on an earlier threat, activist and actor Russell Means on Monday said he will run for Governor of New Mexico in 2002. Means will be running as a Libertarian although he is apparently not a registered party member yet. New Mexico's Libertarian party chairman was on hand on Farmington to help announce Means' bid. Means would face a tough candidate in former Energy Secretary Bill Richardson for the position. Richardson, a former New Mexico Congressman, has formed an exploratory committee to see if he will run for Governor. Means lives part-time outside of Santa Fe, the state's capital. No word yet if Means will run for President. Get the Story:
