MAY 9, 2001 Representative Steve Largent (R-Okla.) on Tuesday said he will make a decision on when he will step down from his post in June, a move awaited by a number of Congressional hopefuls. Included is former Cherokee Nation Principal Chief and former Bureau of Indian Affairs Chief Ross Swimmer. The Republican has formed an exploratory committee to examine a potential run for Largent's seat. The only official candidate is Oklahoma First Lady Cathy Keating. Get the Story:
