Should former Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Ross Swimmer decide to join the race for Oklahoma's 1st Congressional district, he faces stiff competition from First Lady Cathy Keating.

In a poll conducted of Republican voters, Keating had a lead over two possible contenders. Swimmer was not part of the poll.

The seat is being vacated by Rep. Steve Largent because he wants to be the state's governor.
