TUESDAY, JULY 24, 2001 A group of consumer advocates today will protest President Bush's selection of Mary Sheila Gall to head the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Including their voice in opposition to Gall is the publisher of Consumer Reports, which rates products. The magazine rarely speaks out against any political nominee but alleges Gall has a bad record on protecting children from harmful products. Gall's confirmation hearing will take place before the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee tomorrow. Get the Story:
