FRIDAY, JULY 27, 2001 President Bush on Thursday said he is considering expanding his proposal to extend legal residency to Mexican immigrants to those from other countries. Bush said he is open to other proposals. But he added that Mexico is the priority since he is preparing to make an announcement about the initiative with Mexican President Vicente Fox in September. Democrats had been questioning why Bush was only considering granting legal residency to as many as 3 million illegal Mexican nationals. Get the Story:
