JULY 6, 2001

A 24-year-old Washington, DC, intern had an extra-marital affair with Rep. Gary Condit (D-Calif.) for several months prior to her disappearance, according to a Washington Post interview with a relative.

Linda Zamansky said her niece, Chandra Levy, gave her detailed accounts of an intimate relationship with Condit. Levy, who has not been since since April 30, has been the subject of a highly-publicized search with rumors and innuendo centering on Condit.

Condit, 53, denies any relationship beyond friendship with Levy. He and his wife have been interviewed by authorities regarding the disappearance.
